Gunnar Fastlane Review

Gunnar Fastlane 300 Mile REVIEW in Video format.
Three weeks ago to the day it was June 3rd and about 80 degrees, I had picked up my Gunnar Fastlane from a shop in Sylvan Lake, rode it home and made haste getting a 10 dollar trip computer from a local Meijer Department store... Three weeks later I give a review and walkaround of my great machine!

As of writing this post in mid-November, I am here to say that after putting 2000 miles on this machine as a daily commuter, a road-race bike, a cyclecross bike, and even a mountain bike, I would get another one from Gunnar, it is really this good.

Gunnar Fastlane [Waterford Precision Bicycles]

My first REAL BICYCLE!

So after putting about 600 miles on the Big Red MTB, it had became apparent that I was really enjoying cycling, it is all I was doing all summer, I loved it! And with my motorcycle acting up (Broken Fuel Pump), it had to be said that cycling and Maikeru were almost synonymous with one and another.

I was saving up for a new bicycle with only a grand in the budget, but every bike that I researched was either made in china, built in america, or the whole damn thing was manufactured in China, and I wasn't about to spend a thousand of my hard earned dollars at a cheap Chinese bicycle, no way, what I was looking for was ONE bicycle that would last me MANY years a,d be built strong enough to do the type of riding that I was doing. I was asking for a do-it-all bicycle that did not yet exist in todays market, what I was looking for didn't cost a grand, and what I was looking for was the ultimate bicycle, period.

At first I was looking at Giant TCR's, damn good looking bike with great components and relativly light too, all things concidered. But Made in Taiwan was figured out as well as the Surly Crosscheck frame so those were crossed off the list, and further research pointed to 5-6 thousand dollar hand built bicycles that ARE OUT OF MY LEAGUE! A rock and a hard place, back to the drawing board.

After talking to a few dealers and friends in the cycling world, I was pointed to Gunnar brand Bikes, built here in America by hand in the same shop that the legendary Richard Schwinn runs in Waterford, Wisconsin, and being a die hard Schwinn fan to boot, I was sold.

And here is the story on that amasing Bicycle as per posted here on the Gunnar forum:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HELLO!
I purchased my Gunnar Fastlane last Thursday, the 3rd of June and absolutely love it to bits! I was fitted on a Waterford machine back in April and have patiently been waiting for this beautiful work of art, and boy, has it paid off to wait patiently. I am all smiles with the look, feel, and overall robustness that this machine offers me. Since the weekend I have put only 54 miles on it, not much to really make an accurate review but for what I gather thus far, this Bike rocks!!!

Current setup is:

SRAM Rival Group set components, chain wheels, cassette, derailleurs, brake levers and cranks.
Shimano XT Disc hubs FR/RR.
DT Swiss R450 Alloy rims.
Ruffy-Tuffy Tyres.
Chris King headset.
FSA Bars and seat post.
WTB Speed seat.
Blackburn Flea red and clear light / flashers.
Cannondale seat bag.
Arundle plastic bottle cages.
And a Schwinn computer.

All in all, I will be using my bicycle for a daily commuter (26 mile round trip) and for light country touring. I have been using my current bicycle for all my short trips like shopping, dining, and small errand commuting and absolutly love the lifestyle.

Thanks for reading, hope to see ya around!

OH, here is a video walkaround: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybS5N7rnG5g enjoy!
